Creating a Backup

Investigator has many support files that is uses during the program’s operation. We strongly encourage you to back up these files if you make changes to any of these files. You should also back up all your support files on a weekly basis. Please note that by using Investigator’s backup utilities, you are not backing up the Investigator program; you are backing up Investigator’s support files. You can easily back up the support files by selecting Backup from the Special menu and Create from the Backup menu. The create backup dialog box appears.


You first need to select which drive you want to use for the backup operation and make sure there is a formatted disk in the drive. Next select which support files you want to back up. You can select all of them by selecting the All option. When you click OK, the files will be copied to the specified drive. A dialog box will appear telling you which file is currently being backed up. Investigator will then tell you when the operation is complete. Be sure to label and date the disk or CD and store it in a safe place.
