Group Relative Strength Calculation Example

Assume that we have a group that contains the following symbols. Each symbol is followed by a percent change for a particular date.

A 16.4
B 23.8
C 1.6
D -5.8
E 4.5
F 7.4
G 1.4
H 2.9
I 13.8
J 1.4
K -3.4
L 4.2

For this group, we add up all of the percents: 68.2. We then divide this by the number of symbols in the group (12): 5.6833

This value is then the percent change for the group, which will be used in the same way that Relative Strength is calculated for an individual symbol. In other words, all of the groups will now be sorted, using each groups percent change, to create the Group Relative Strength values.
