Restoring a Backup

Rarely if ever will your Investigator support files get corrupted; however, everyone experiences hard disk crashes from time to time. If either of these cases occurs, you can restore your Investigator settings and support files by selecting Backup from the Special menu and Restore from the Backup menu. The restore backup dialog box appears.


You first need to select which drive you want to use for the backup operation and make sure the disk you wish to restore from is in the drive. Next select which support files you want to restore. You can select all of them by selecting the All option. When you click OK, the files will be copied from the specified drive. A dialog box will appear telling you which file is currently being restored. Investigator will then tell you when the operation is complete. At this point, you should exit and then re-start Investigator.
