If you are not testing futures, Investigator will track the amount of money you make or lose on trades over a test run. The Capital Management Parameters dialog box contains the following items:
Initial Capital:
This is the amount of capital with which Investigator will start trading. The default value is 1,000,000.
Amount to Risk On Trade:
This is the amount of capital Investigator will use to enter each trade. The default value is 5,000.
Minimum Capital For Testing:
If the system you are testing has less than spectacular results, testing will stop after your account drops below this value. The default value is 5,000.
Commission In:
This is the percent commission Investigator will charge your account when it enters a trade. The default value is 0.
Commission Out:
This is the percent commission Investigator will charge your account when it exits of trade. The default value is 0.
Minimum Commission:
If the above two commissions combined are below this value, this value will be charged to your account. The default value is 50.
Slippage:
Slippage is the amount of money that is lost from the time your order is placed to the time your order is executed. Investigator will deduct the slippage amount indicated from both the entry and exit value of your trade. The default value is 0.
If you don’t like Investigator’s default values for the above options, change the dialog box so that the values you prefer for testing are shown and then click the save button. These options will then be the defaults when you test again.
Once you click OK, you will progress to the Testing dialog box.
