This section assumes that you have read the Data Types and Groups Overview section.
At times, you may switch to a different service which supports a different data type. You may also move your data to different directories or you may decide that you don’t want to use certain directories for system library or historical testing, relative strength generation, or bad data checking. To change any of the above information, select Data Types from the Special menu and Change Data Directory Information from the Data Types submenu. The Change Data Type Parameters dialog box will appear.
If you want to add a new data type, you first need to make sure that you have some data files of this data type on your hard disk: Investigator cannot add a new data type unless some of the data type files exist. Click on the Add Data Type button. First, the Add New Data Type dialog box will appear. This box will show you all of the available data types that you can add. If a checkbox is grayed out, that means that you have already added this data type. Check the data type that you want to add. When you click OK, the Add New Data Directory dialog box appears.
If you want to delete a data type, click on the data type on list on the left and click the Delete Data Type button. A dialog box will appear asking you to confirm deletion. Click OK and the data type will be deleted.
If you want to add a new data directory, click on the data type on list on the left and click the Add Directory button. The Add New Data Directory dialog box appears.
If you want to delete a data directory, click on the data directory on list on the right and click the Delete Directory button. The directory will be deleted.
If you decide that you want to not use a directory for system library testing, historical testing, relative strength generation, or bad data checking, you can decide to change the use of the directory. The directories are listed on the right hand side of the dialog box, followed by a Yes or No. A Yes means that the directory will be used by Investigator, a No means the directory will be ignored. You can toggle a single or multiple directories between Yes and No by clicking on the directory or directories and clicking the Use Directory button.
Finally, you will have to choose whether you want to test using the data files or groups option. See the Data Types and Groups Overview section for more information on this option.
Note 1: If you press the Cancel button in this dialog box, any changes that you have made will not take effect. For example, if you delete a data type or directory and later change your mind, you can click Cancel, and the changes will not take place.
Note 2: You cannot change data directory information when you are running a system library test, a historical test, generating Relative Strength values, or checking for bad data.
