The Designer text editor allows you to type in your indicators. Most indicators are functions connected with +, -, * and /, the symbols for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Investigator has an extremely useful option that will pop up a dialog box when you type in a function's name. Each function dialog box has helpful text describing each parameter, followed by an edit or check box to enter in each parameter. This significantly reduces errors and makes indicator creation easier for even the most advance trader.
A function is a name followed by parameters that tells Investigator what to do with the function. Investors new to indication creation often have trouble remembering the function format. Instead of having to memorize functions, Investigator provides you with a dialog box that contains a list of all the available functions, along with a description of each of the function's parameters.
When you select Designer - Create from the Indicators menu, the Designer dialog box appears, along with two other dialog boxes: the Designer Functions dialog box which gives a list of all of Investigator's functions and parameters and the Designer Indicators dialog box which gives a list of all of your previously defined indicators.
The main Designer dialog box has two check boxes.
The Use Large Dialogs check box refers to the Designer Functions and the Designer Indicators dialog boxes. Both of these dialog boxes come in two sizes - large and small. If you are using Investigator on a large screen monitor, you will check the Use Large Dialogs check box so you can see the contents of the dialog boxes without having to scroll them. If you are on a laptop, these dialog boxes would dominate the screen. Investigator gives you the flexibility to change these dialogs to the size you prefer.
Please note that regardless of size, the contents of both dialog boxes will be the same.
