You can change the various testing parameters associated with your system library test, as well as recall or delete systems from your system library by selecting System Library - Recall, Delete, Use from the Systems menu.
A dialog box appears showing you a list of the systems that make up your system library as well as some options that Investigator will use during a system library test.
If you want Investigator to start a system library test when it launches, click on the Start testing when Investigator launches checkbox. This is useful if you automate your downloading of quotes and launching of Investigator so that if you are in the unfortunate position of having to work during the day (you obviously haven’t been using Investigator long enough), the Review System Library Test List will be on your screen when you arrive home.
If the Check Final Date Of File option is checked, Investigator will make sure that the last date in the file is the same as today’s date. This is useful since it eliminates files that have not been updated recently, such as files that have quote information which is useful for historical testing, but in which trading has stopped.
Important Note: If the Check final date of file option is checked and the last quotes that were downloaded were not today’s date, no systems will be found. You’ll notice if this happens because system library testing will progress at a faster pace than normal. This typically happens when, for example, you run a system library test in the morning. You probably want to run the test on yesterday’s quotes, but Investigator is testing today’s quotes which you haven’t yet downloaded. In this situation, you should use the Specific Date System Library Test feature explained in the system library test help section. Investigator is intelligent enough to know that if you run a system library test on a Saturday or Sunday, you really want to test Friday’s quotes.
If you have forgotten the conditions and indicators that make up a particular system, you can highlight (click on) the system and then click on the Recall Pattern button.
Sometimes you will not want to test a particular system during a system library test. For example, you may wish to test a particular system just on weekends. You can tell Investigator not to test a system by using the Use System feature. Highlight (click on) the system that you do not want Investigator to use in testing and click the Use Pattern button. The system will change from having a “- Yes” after it to having a “- No” after it. You can later toggle the system so it will be tested again by highlighting it and clicking the Use Pattern button.
If you want to delete a system from your system library, highlight the system and click the Delete Pattern button. A dialog box will ask you to confirm deletion of the system. Click Yes and the system will be deleted.
