Entry / Exit Conditions Review

These two dialog boxes review the entry and exit conditions that you have entered for the system that you are adding or historically testing. If the conditions are acceptable, click OK. If you are historically testing the system, you will progress to the Test Parameters Dialog Box; otherwise, if you are adding a system to your system library, you will progress to System Name Dialog Box.

If the conditions are not acceptable, you can make any corrections or changes to the system that you are adding or historically testing. This is especially useful if you are re-testing the recent test system. Most investors don’t come up with the perfect system the first time they test the system. After testing a pattern, you can view the historical results by using TradeWindow or by viewing the Historical Test Log. You can then use the historical test log to pick out the worst trades and then try to eliminate these trades by changing some of the system’s indicators and then re-test the system with the changes.

Investigator allows you to easily modify the system three ways:

You can change an indicator’s parameters by first highlighting (clicking on) the indicator you want to change and then clicking the Change Indicator button. The indicator’s testing dialog box will appear with the current testing parameters selected.

Note: If you want to change an Investor Defined Bar Pattern, a Pre-Defined Bar Pattern, or a Trading Range pattern, you cannot use the Change Indicator button. You must click the Add Indicator (discussed next) button and then add the bar pattern.

You can add an indicator to the system by clicking the Add Indicator button. The Main Historical Testing Dialog Box will appear and you can add the indicator.

You can delete an indicator by first highlighting (clicking on) the indicator you want to delete and then clicking the Delete Indicator button. The indicator will be deleted from the system.
