The historical test log will give you the numerical results of each discovered historical trade as well as a running total of your account balance. This list is especially useful for viewing losing trades in order to determine how to eliminate these trades by changing parameters on the test system.
Select View Log Of Historical Trades from the Systems menu.
This dialog box gives you the following information:
The name of the file containing the trade or trades.
The date the trade was entered.
The date the trade was exited.
The entry price of the trade.
The exit price of the trade.
The number of shares traded.
The commission on the trade.
The amount of money made or lost on the trade.
The percent return on your trade.
A running total of your account balance.
To view a specific trade or trades, highlight (click on) the trades you wish to view and then click the See Trade button. The trades that you selected appear with arrows showing you the entry and exit dates. These arrows will point up or down depending on whether the trade was a long or short trade. For example, if the trade was a long trade, the green arrow will point up and the red arrow will point down. If the trade was a short trade, the green arrow will point down and the red arrow will point up.
The chart will also display all of the indicators associated with the system. If you have the same indictor on both your entry and exit conditions, both the entry and exit indicator will be shown, since you could have different parameters on each indicator. If you wish the see the just the entry or exit condition indicator, you can use the Show Just Entry / Exit Conditions feature.
As a reminder, if you forget the system associated with the trade, you can always view it by using the Recall Pattern feature.
